My name is Eric Roe and this is my blog for AMH 2410. I am a 5th year Sport Management major at the University of Florida, and this class will actually satisfy my last 2,000 words for my Gordon Rule writing requirement before I graduate at the end of May.
Cultural Disorientation (n)
1. The mental confusion produced through a loss of ones direction, position, or relationship in one’s given society.
The purpose of our final project and part II of our experiment this semester is to develop a new mode of discourse for conveying others experience as we intuit it. I have chosen the experience of cultural disorientation, as seen through the eyes of a 12 year old Mexican-American boy named Alex, growing up in 1996 Florida. The 1990′s saw rapid immigration into our state, especially from people of Hispanic descent. This helped to foster negative opinions about Hispanics, and acts as the setting for my narrative.
